Building Bye Laws provides information on construction laws for different cities. In order to improve ease of getting construction approvals, the Ministry of Urban Development released a set of model building byelaws which provide a structural framework to help create an online single window building plan approval process. The aim is complete elimination of human interaction of the applicant with the urban local body including online approvals of various kinds of no-objection certificates. The time limit for approvals is proposed in the model regulations to be 30 days maximum else it will be deemed to be approved.
This enables the developers to allow for more coverage to increase the selling price. Most clients are either unaware of this or turn a blind eye to it, seeing only what they perceive as the immediate monetary and space benefit. However, one must realise that byelaws are developed first and foremost for the safety of the inhabitant and the city.
